Organize Your Life Around Your Dreams

Tips, Tricks, and Reflections

Let the Fire Element Do the Work

Chrystina Hakam June 28, 2026

How do you organize your life around your dreams? Start by asking yourself:

WHAT LIGHTS ME UP?

Then let the Fire Element do the work! Yes, the Fire Element will help. It can be the spark you need to get things moving. It’s summer! Just look at everything blooming, flying, chirping, singing, celebration is in the air! This is my personal favorite. The Fire Element and this season are all about the energies of passion, play, joy, pleasure, a zest for life! Making that move, fulfilling that desire, expressing yourself, sharing your energy with others, play and laughter, that’s all fire energy. It’s the spark that happens when a song comes on and you can’t help but shake your booty. It gives life to your dreams!

Or, it can be all that. It can also be dehydrating, draining, burnt out—too little fire left. Over heated, obsessed, moods swinging, mania—too much fire. Any of those states could make it difficult to tap into your joy, your sense of play—having no idea what turns you on. Does that resonate for you? Maybe you feel drained by all of life’s responsibilities and you’ve forgotten what lights you up, you have your own business and don’t make time for play, or you’re simply drained by all the nuttiness of the world around you—obsessing over the news each day. All of that can make it hard to tap into your fire energy, in a sustaining and healthy way. I’m here to tell you, there are solutions to help you tend to your fire. Now is the time!

We often think about good habits as practicing boundaries or consistency, and time for play and letting go is often relegated as the reward after you do the important stuff. However, play—expressing yourself, letting loose—are vitally important practices. Are the important stuff! When we stop making space for these, we can forget how to even do them.

I’m a little out of practice, my “Play” muscle is a bit weak. In resistance, I come up with things that need to be done first (distractions posing as responsibilities). Or make excuses for why today isn’t the day to start. In order to light my spark, I recently invited some girlfriends over to hang out and do face masks. It felt so good…and playful, fun! How’s your “Play” muscle feeling? If it’s feeling weak, what could you do to give it a little more strength?

To help either build or tame your fire, make a vision board (or a list) that includes all the things that light you up. What do you want to do and experience this summer? This will give you the inspiration and energy to do those things. Or snap you out of your mania, so you can focus on what’s most important. It can also help to find a friend who’s really good at play—and just copy them until your body remembers! The season of summer will totally support you in your efforts.

Fire is the Lover, the Magi. The emotion is JOY, the climate is hot, the organ is the heart. The sound is laughter. Fire is an amplifier, and similar to Water, can cause quick changes. So once you start, hold on! The heart pumps blood throughout the body, carrying nourishment to all parts. But it’s first stop is to nourish itself—we first nourish ourselves through our own purest expression, our light, our fire. Light your own flame through a small move, and fire energy will be there to keep it going.

What would go onto your vision board, or your list of things that light you up? Your passions are the bread crumbs leading you to a fulfilling life. A life organized around your dreams. Pay attention to what turns you on, makes you laugh, feels good. Then most importantly, make space in your life for this! Find activities and people who bring this out in you, do things that make you feel alive and excited. You can start small, tiny little steps add up into big moves.

Here are some Feng Shui suggestions for connecting to the Fire Element:

  • Light a candle with the intention of lighting that spark in your life.

  • Turn up the music and DANCE

  • Get outside and feel the sun on your face

  • Wear something red, pink, orange—colorful!

  • Pick up some vibrant colored fresh flowers for your space

  • Freshen up the Love Gua of your home (back right corner of your house)

  • Practice laughing… until you’re actually laughing uncontrollably

  • Connect to something you're passionate about, then take a step towards it. Or leap if you’re ready!

  • Hang out with people who enjoy your company

This is the last element in the series. You can always refer back to the previous blogs for a refresh on the other elements. It’s a cycle, they all affect one another, supporting or containing. Balancing.
